KYU PROMOTION INFORMATION
Kyu Promotions are held at Seido headquarters:61 West 23rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues 212.924.0511
Children
  • Promotion starts at 9am sharp.  Please arrive by 8:45 or earlier as the dojo and the locker rooms will quickly become crowded
  • All students will start on the 2nd floor
  • Parents and family members may observe and take photos and videos, however we ask that you please follow all dojo rules
Peewee and Junior belts (ages 4 through 8 years) will start at 9am and will be done approximately 10am

Youth belts (ages 9 years and above) will start at 9am and will be done approximately 10:30am
Adults
Adult promotion consists of both a written and physical test.  Times are as follows:
- Advanced White:
- Blue through Advanced Yellow
- Green through Brown
11:30am Written  /  12:00pm - 1:00pm Physical
12:15pm Written / 1:00pm - 2:30pm Physical
1:45pm Written / 2:30pm - 4:00pm Physical
BLACK BELT PROMOTION INFORMATION
Black Belt Promotions are held at Seido headquarters:61 West 23rd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues 212.924.0511
Black Belt candidates will be provided with details of promotion dates and times.  For those black belts who want to support your friends and classmates, promotions are held during Wednesday and Friday black belt classes.  Although this is always subject to change, the normal start time is 6pm on both evenings.  Wednesday nights are normally reserved for Advanced Brown belts testing for Shodan and Friday evenings are normally reserved for Shodan's and above testing for higher black belt ranks.

The final day of adult black belt promotion is held on Sunday morning.  If you plan to support by watching or fighting you should arrive and be ready by no later than 7am.  If you choose to fight, you must bring full kumite equipment.

Youth black belt promotion is held on one Wednesday evening (with the adults) and one Saturday afternoon.  The Saturday afternoon portion starts at 2pm and may last for a few hours.  This includes the kumite portion of promotion.
The listed times are START times.  You should be ready to go in your gi before the start time.  Green belts and up are required to bring complete kumite gear (please bring with you to the 3rd floor).
